“It has been great to play so many different venues and make friends with so many golfers my age and ability, I don’t have that opportunity at my home club.” Bruce Lyon Tour Competitor

It isn’t just events that we run, we are looking to build a junior golf community in Scotland

Over the last 6 years we have been running golf events across the country, in 2021 we hope to take that to the next level, working closely with clubs to actively grow junior membership and participation up and down the country.

While our events are the core focus of what we do, we are building a home for junior golf in Scotland with access to education and exercises, club opens and events, a hub for juniors looking for membership information and much more! Join your club and be part of the community. Clubs that sign up to host our county clubs will be able to advertise their junior club opens, advertise their membership options and their professionals will be able to promote junior coaching opportunities.

Each club will have their own dedicated page on the website, we will work with you to build a page that you are happy with, marketing opportunities will present themselves through our social media channels and strong email database. While we will only actively promote junior membership, just remember that you will be advertising to the parents too.

All your club needs to do to get involved is commit to a maximum of 8 hours worth of tee times on a Sunday afternoon and source a few trusty volunteers to run the day, leave the rest to us!

Our Website

We are spending significant time and effort on developing our website, each member will have their own profile from which they can interact with the rest of the website. Young people these days are more and more savvy on the internet, it is important that our website offers them plenty of engagement. The website will play a big part in the experience of being a member of a county club.

Learning rules, etiquette and exercises to help them in their golfing future

Full messaging capabilities between us and the juniors and also each other

Scores are submitted to our website. Results can be viewed in the dashboard

Players will be able to view information about each venue and find how to join

Friends can be made for life on the course, not just the juniors but the parents too

Variety is the spice of life, playing different courses always helps bring on your game

While competition is always good, keeping the game fun is the secret

The county club has been created to give junior golfers in each county the opportunity to be part of something bigger. this will reduce the burden on each club to keep junior golfers entertained and engaged but will give the juniors the opportunity to play with many golfers of a similar age and ability while visiting a number of junior friendly clubs in their local area

Each club involved will get the chance to engage with junior golfers (and parents) in a structured and organised environment on a regular basis. there are various formats that are played in the county club events allowing each event to truly cater for all. this will be an opportunity for clubs to grow stronger junior sections as junior golfers graduate from the county club and onto traditional membership. this will also give clubs to promote junior opens, junior coaching and more

It doesn’t cost anything for clubs to be involved, only a block of tee times on a sunday afternoon. we charge a small monthly fee to each player and this allows us to maintain the website and promote the opportunities available by playing in their local county club.

Initially we will ask each club to set aside tee times from 12pm – 4pm on their designated event dates (2 per season). This will give space for approximately 100 juniors to play. bookings for each event close on the sunday prior to the event and then tee times are issued to all players on the Tuesday and the club will be able to adjust the tee time requirements accordingly.

It is more important now than ever to offer a good selection of events to cater for as many as possible and give everyone the opportunity to experience this great game. at each event there will be:

18 hole strokeplay – for those with a handicap of 28 or less for boys and 36 or less for girls

9 hole stableford – for those with a handicap of 29 or higher for boys and 37 or higher for girls

flag event – for those without a handicap

Simply visit:

on the website page you can read more about the county club and sign up, viewing the remaining availability for your local county club

A sample time line for the events will be as follows:

2 weeks before – booking opens for your particular event

1 week before – booking closes

Tuesday before – tee times are issued

wednesday before – scorecards and relevant flags are sent to the club

on the day – players are expected to arrive and check in with pro shop 30 minutes prior to their tee off time

after event finishes – clubs will submit scores through the jgs website

monday after – results sent to players and uploaded to the website with the order of merit updated where players can login to view scores and standings

Typically it will require a minimum of 3 people to run, one to register, one to ensure all the players are at their tee at the alloted time and another to act as a starter. there will be a requirement to submit the scores after the event through our website.

Of course, each club that is part of the county club will have their own dedicated page on the website giving information about the club, information about membership and information about their junior opens. Along with this your club will be promoted through our social media and you will have full rights to use any photos that are produced throughout our events for marketing purposes.
